What query were you running? If the query was a list of student account transactions the root of the query is not a student but a transaction. Meaning, if the path is student account transaction > student. Because the "root" is the transaction the system can not follow the standard path for creating contact list which currently requires Student to be the root.
In this case its already a open task. The current solution is you would need to export the results to excel and then copy the campus id's and paste them into the School Specific Reports - List of Students by campus id.

We are still looking for a solution to create contact lists from queries that do not have the student as root. I provided a different Reoccurring contact list for you that gets around this issue.
This is still open, based on the original issue. However you can copy the campus id's from the results and paste them into the advanced search "Find Multiple IDs". This will allow you to very quickly get a contact list of the query results.
The school custom report for making a contact list is currently set for student accounts. Did you run this to create a contact list for financial aid?
I am trying to hunt down the reason as it seems to be working in Student Accounts right now.
