Is it okay to change an existing prospect record if the prospect wants to come back for a different degree? Do I need to make the old prospect record historical? Perhaps these questions need to be answered through institutional policy, which is fine.

I just came to an answer for myself: if the student is from pre-GNECsis days, check to see if there is any content in her Prospect record. If so, add the new degree in “2nd Choice.” If not, you can remove Prospect from her Person record and create a new one.
Edit: I do not see a particular reason to keep old prospect information for a student in this scenario. However, if your school desires to keep the historical information, move the old degree to “2nd Choice” under “Degree Major Interest” and place a note in “Prospect Notes” to the effect that this student is applying for a new degree.
And also uncheck all of the items under the application process.
For historical purposes, it is best to keep this record. What is best, is under Decision/Admittance, click ‘Generate Later Prospect Record for this Prospect Record’. This will keep the records connected without getting rid of any historical information.
I just noticed that. Thank you!
