Permissions Issue

I added a new permissions group (Faculty Administration) which should have HR privileges. However, they are not showing up for the users... Did I miss something or is it a bug?

One group per person

You should only have one permission group per person.  It gets confused if you have conflicting permissions within two groups.

Ok. That makes sense. However

Ok. That makes sense. However, this creates some management difficulties. EX: If we have someone that has two different roles such as HR and academics, we will have to create unique groups for that person.

Is there a way so that groups can be additive? i.e. I'm in the academic group but also the student accounts group. Since those don't conflict, then no problem. And if permissions do conflict, that a warning occurs that identifies the problem before proceeding. ex: This person is in "read only" group which conflict with System admin

Not sure if it is but this sounds challenging. However, the current system is problematic for these cases when staff extended across roles.

Thanks,

Stpehen

It is best to create groups

It is best to create groups for each unique set of permissions in order to ensure proper access
