Cannot Delete Future Class from Student's Record

Folks,

Having some trouble removing a future class from a Student's record. GNECsis says it has started, even though the start date is not until next year.

This has been observed for Student 340000943 and 340004439.

Thanks!

Rob

Version 2.80

Yes, we actually have already found and fixed this issue.  Until we are able to get a fix installed, please clear out the start date, delete the enrollment and add the start date back in.  Sorry for the inconvenience.

Just a note - we are still

Just a note - we are still encountering this error when trying to un-enrol students from Classes. No worries if it is still a fix in-progress, just wanted to make sure in case you had put in a fix, but it wasn't quite taking!

If this class had already

If this class had already started, it is designed not to allow you to delete it.  Because, this will potentially mess up billing.  You can only delete a class if it hasn't already started.  In the case you posted on the other bug (that we will look in to), the class had started in September, and this is why it wont allow you to delete it.

Hmm .. is this new? I seem to

Hmm .. is this new? I seem to recall being able to remove classes from students' records at any point during the term previously. If, for example, we set the Add/Drop date later on, will that allow us to remove classes that have already started?

This is mainly for instances where a student has been enrolled in error, for example; mostly that will be before the class has started, but we also allow students to change classes without penalty up to two weeks after the class has started, and we have some classes that are self-paced, so while they nominally begin at the start of term, students can enter (and thus need to be removed through accident or intent!) after the official class start date, also.

Thanks for letting me know! We'll work around it if necessary, just trying to figure out what is and isn't possible!

It is new in the previous

It is new in the previous release.  We found there was a billing loophole that if people deleted a class after it had been billed and after the class had started, that because the class was gone, billing wasn't happening.

But, in general reasoning, our thought process was that once the class starts, the class should be dropped.  Then you can set up billing rules to refund dropped classes.
