Hello, I'm trying to create a new user. I didn't have certain details (DOB, etc.) so I sent a request. When I got the information, I went back and entered it all in. User search doesn't show the new user under any configuration of % search, but when I tried to create it I get a "User Name already exists error."

Hello,
The User setup process has been refined to eliminate the issues you had from happening again. All errors relating to Users should be resolved. Please let us know if you have any further issues. Below is the steps for making a Staff Portal User with Group Access.
1. A User needs to be an Employee to be given Staff Portal Access.
2. Go to HR and make a Person a Employee. (If they are not already). Here is a video: Making a Employee
3. Make a User Account for the Employee. (If they are not already). Here is a video:
Make a Employee a System User with Login Access to Staff Portal
4. Give the Employee Staff Portal Group Access through System Administration. Here is a video:
Give a User Staff Portal Access with Group Access Permissions

Hello, would it be possible to change all of the required fields in an employee record to optional? Even after four years of GNECsis, we still have made-up dates for DOB, contract start and end date, etc. We want to clean up our records, but we have been running into problems because the system rejects the record when it doesn't have a correct date. As we continue to use the system, eventually we want almost everything online and not on paper.

I have requested that these be made as an option for the school to turn on required or not for the fields you requested. I do not know all of the ramifications but having the fields blank may have repercussions in other parts of the system that may make removing required hard to implement.

I have removed Hire Date, Date of Birth, and Effective Begin Date as required fields. All other fields are still required.
This is included in version 2.47, which is the next version to be release.
