Attached is a student bill. He paid too much and needs a refund I set the refund the same day the charges are set to applied to his account. Some reason when I did that the bill now shows a previous balance of $1,200.00 and he is a new student so should not have any previous charges.

Hello!
The student bill has a date range that is set to determine which charges are included in the bill. Any transactions prior to the transaction start date will be summed as the balance leading into the bill. In the above case the student had several transactions prior to the bill start date which is set by default to the start of the term.
Below is the same bill but I changed the start date to prior to the first transaction where he started making payments. This will show no prior balance as the transactions are now included in the bill that made up the prior balance.
