Would it be possible to explore integration between GNECsis and MailChimp for mass email communication of announcements? We often use MailChimp for special announcements that go out to all of our students, faculty, and staff.

Integration with MailChimp
Alan has done a full integration with MailChimp in the past, and it is very complicated and provides minimal value in the end.
I would suggest using a custom query report on People to create an excel file that you can import. With this, you can select the fields you want to import, including the preferred email, and narrow down your results to the roles you want to include (employee, instructor, staff, student, etc). You can save this query and run it at the beginning of each term to import into mail chimp. Mail chimp will manage your unsubscribes.
