Hello, we have come across an interesting issue in working with GNECsis and Moodle integration. Some of our students come from countries (e.g. Myanmar) which do not use surnames. Previously, in Trousers, we arbitrarily broke up the names of the Myanmar students to get it to work. Upon the adoption of GNECsis, however, we decided to put the whole name into the Last Name field.
Moodle has a problem with this. It does not allow either name field to be blank. Our workaround has been to put a period there, but we are afraid this will create further problems down the line, mainly having to go in and manually edit all the accounts where this is necessary.
Can the GNECsis integration tool be modified to add a period in the first name in Moodle when creating new accounts? Or is there a better way to correct this. Joseph and I have both done some searching to see if Moodle can be made to not require first name, but we were quickly lost in a dark, scary forest.
