The W error has been fixed and will go live on the next update.
In the meantime Kindra has provided the following work around of the error.
Search for the student
Click on their name
click edit
Click update next to the term
click update next to the class
change status to withdrawn and grade to W.
Click ok and save.
It is only an issue withdrawn. All other grade entry should be fine.

From the screen shot it appears you were putting in a grade of W. I know there was a fix for W. I will see if the fix went live yet.
