Student 'Class' vs Employee 'Class' differentiation

Folks,

Good morning! We're enjoying the Custom Translation feature, it's proving very useful for improving useability for UK schools!

A related request: could we have the default label for the Human Resources > Classification field changed to something like Staff Classification? At the moment if I change "Classification" in the translation to something more useful based on the Student definition (so, "Academic Level", for us), that also reflects as a change in the Human Resources module, but this new translation isn't useful for that module. If the base labels were different, I could change each one seperately.

Thanks!

Not that easy....

The problem is that classification is a very generic word and could be used in lots of places for lots of purposes, but you are replacing it with a very specific word that may or may not fit with all the locations.  And if I change that one location, our translators have to translate for all of the other languages, and it may be that you find other places that are now mislabeled.

Ye-es, it is a bit of an issue - the problem being that 'Classification' has a very specific meaning in UK academics, being the level that your Degree is awarded at (1st class, 2:1, 2:2, etc), so having it refer to other things in other places causes some confusion. Things that we don't typically use in the UK (like Degree Major!) we can generally get used to, since at least it doesn't mean anything else, but Class is causing some continual crossed wires.

I'll leave it out of the Translation for the moment. Ideally, it would be very helpful to find a way to have Student Classification and Staff Classification renamed to something entirely different (e.g. Academic Level and Staff Classification) so that the only remaining Classification in our system is on the Student Major Degree Track, and refers to the level of their degree.

Thanks! Sorry it's a pain :) you'd think we both spoke the same language or somethin ...

On a similar note: there's a field in System Administration > Host called "Government ID" that we use to hold the Institution's UK Provider Reference Number which identifies it on various reports. However, there's also a field on each Student's record by the same name, so if I want to translate it (which I do!) to something more relevant on the Student's record (HUSID, in this case) it also changes on the Host page.

Is there a way to change the default label on the Host page to something less generic than Government ID? Institution ID, for example?

I sense there may be a couple of these throughout as we wrangle with language!
